Hello folks.

Last week I was in New York near the base of the Statue of Liberty. Well done all of you who got it right. I have moved south now. Can you work out where I am?

This area was first inhabited for more than one thousand years by the Tequesta Indians, but was later claimed for Spain in 1566. The city I am in is the only city in the USA to be founded by a woman. It is now best known as a holiday resort and nearby there are some fantastic tourist attractions. A lot of Americans retire here.

Where am I now? (I'm very tired after a long swim)

Hello folks. Sorry it is a little while since I last put up a quiz but I have had a long long journey across an ocean to get to where I am now. It is amazing. Although I am not getting much sleep. Can you follow the clues and work out where I am?

The place I am at was founded as a commercial trading post by the Dutch East India Company in 1624. The settlement was called New Amsterdam until 1664 when the country came under British control and changed the name. This place was the capital of the country from 1785 until 1790, and has been the nation's largest city since 1790.

Hello. I hope you have all had a good holiday. I just got fed up with the sea being so cold and have swam to where it is warmer. Can you work out where I am? I am at the gateway between an ocean and a sea. I am in a British territory and I am still in Europe. However on a clear day I can look at a different continent altogether.

There is a navy base here and it was used during the Battle of Trafalgar. Can you work out where I am? If you can then e.mail me at dolphinschoolgeographydept@gmail.com or put it on a piece of paper and hand it into Mr Andrews. The closing date for this weeks competition is next Friday.

Hello. Dorothy here. Where am I this week?

Hello everyone. Well the sea has been freezing this week. I hear that it has been pretty cold at school too. Thanks for the answers to last weeks quiz. There weren't very many entries, I think because it was a funny week and a lot of people were away. Mr Andrews will announce the winner at the assembly on Wednesday. The answer is I was at Plymouth Hoe. The game was the game of bowls Walter Raleigh is supposed to have played before going off to defeat the Spanish Armada.

Now for this weeks quiz. I haven't swam very far along the coast and I am at a place that I know that lots of you have been to. I keep swimming in and out of this natural feature - it is great fun! It is made of limestone and was created by the power of the waves. Loads of people come here and it has been designated a World Heritage Site it is so beautiful and special.

Where is Dorothy the Dolphin?

Hello everyone.

I have been swimming around the coast of England this week. The water is a bit chilly I can tell you. I stopped off here, which is one of Mr Andrews' favourite places. Read the clues below and look at the picture to see if you can work out exactly where I am.

In the South West this flat bit of land is most famous for a game that was played in 1588. From here I look across the Hamoaze. What a brilliant name for a bit of water. The tower you can see in the picture is actually the top part of a lighthouse that was moved here from the Eddystone Rocks brick by brick.
